FREEDOM!

The weather cooperated this weekend and I am THRILLED to announce that the chicks have been moved outside!  Here is a quick glimpse of their new fortress.  LOL  Mike worked amazingly hard! Next time you see him, be sure to give him a pat on the back for a job well done!

Here is a funny post I just had to preserve.  Ella's preschool has had a documented case of lice.  Not overly alarming to me, since I am a school teacher and live through a case in the classroom at least once per school year.  However, when it hits a tad closer to home, I can't help bit be cautious!


I checked the kids heads this morning, to be certain.  Linc is easy with short hair.  He just thinks he is getting a massage and asks no questions - CLEAR!  Then I get to Ella.  I prep her with what I am going to do, to avoid her getting overly anxious.  I then take a look - CLEAR.  I ask if she wants to then jump in the shower since she was up early and had time to spare (plus - one less chore I would need to accomplish that evening!).  She happily gets ready and hops in the shower.   In the mean time, Lexi wakes up and yells to Ella in the bathroom - "Ella, you are in the shower in the morning?"  Ella replied back, "Yeah - Mom thinks I have fleas!"


Thanks Ella!  LOL  (Oh to be a fly on the wall in this crazy house!)

Rain, Rain, Go Away.....

As the old saying goes... however, at this moment in time, we are omitting "Come again another day!"  This is getting out of hand!  The girls needed to be outside about 2 weeks ago, but the rain is hindering our progress.  CRAZY!  Mike has even spent some hours in the rain working, but being that this isn't our livelihood, there are other indoor projects that are taking our time.  


For instance, like trying to fix, and then eventually replace, our broken washer.  It lived a good life!  LOL  12 years is not too shabby of a lifespan for a washing machine, if we do say so ourselves.  Yet, picking out a new one is not an easy feat with 3 little helpers in the appliance stores!  Eventually, we picked one out and the laundry is underway again in the Adams' household!  Hallelujah


The gals are now getting restless.  They hop out of the box, onto the door ledge as soon as you lower the wall to access the food or water.

 At first it was unnerving, but now after a week straight of this, we have grown accustomed to the friendly greetings!  If you hold out your hand, 99% of the time the gals climb aboard and enjoy the time out of confinement.  All I can say is thank goodness Mike works in the corrugated industry and was able to quickly produce a set of higher walls.  Although the girls may not see it as ideal, my sanity certainly does!


This is the big weekend we pray for some dry spells and move the gals outside.  Although it will be amusing to get 10 grown chickens up the basement stairs, through the house and out the back door to the coop, we will survive!  In fact, I don't care if I need to move them one by one, all by myself - their coop is calling!  LOL

Priority Mail

We had a great time getting our May box together for Tino and the guys this weekend!  Everyone worked hard on their artwork!



Linc explained to me that this is Tino and the other soldiers.  He felt this is what they would look like if they had long long long hair!  Apparently this is the true reason why soldiers shave their heads... lol... at least according to this 4 year old!  (My particular favorite is the belly button on one of the soldiers! classic)



We attempted to squeeze in as many little treats and goodies as we could fit in our Priority mail box!  In fact, we had so much to send this month, we will be surprising our heroes with TWO boxes!

Spring has Sprung (finally)

Okay, so it is Mother's Day weekend... this is typically when the garden is underway.  This year we will obviously be behind schedule.  

I have gotten the onions in one of the raised beds, and that is about it!  

We have a lot of work ahead of us in the next few weeks!


The chickens are still inside... the main garden is not yet tilled.  However, there have been a few signs that Spring is finally deciding to arrive - other than the nonstop rain!  So, we took some time to enjoy the little treasures that Mother Nature is begging to share!

Group shot with the Mr. Toad, before he was taken to visit the sandbox, then taken on a wheelbarrow ride, and finally returned safe and sound to his home near the compost bins. (Not sure this is what Mr. Toad had in mind for fun, but the kids seemed to enjoy their friend for a day!)

We were even able to get in our annual Easter Egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's this weekend.  Up until now, the rain has cancelled several planned dates... we were so excited to finally get to run and search for eggs full of candy and coins!  JACKPOT!
